Gedling Borough Council are consulting on a new selective licence scheme
Gedling Borough Council are currently consulting on new selective licencing scheme for selected areas within their district.
The areas they are proposing to cover are as follows (the links will allow you to see the areas on a map);
Gedling Borough Council introduced a similar scheme for Netherfield in October 2018 and Nottingham City Council launched there own city-wide scheme back in August 2018.
We disagree that selective licencing schemes improve housing standards as councils spend the majority of their time and resources administering these schemes, rather than improving housing standards for private tenants. Councils already possess extensive powers to deal with landlords renting dangerous housing, they must rely on these powers and not licensing until we have the financial impact of the coronavirus under control.
The consultation is open to anyone including residents, landlords, and managing agents, therefore we are asking if you could share your views on the proposed scheme by filling out the survey on the link below;

The consultation is open until January the 4th, however, there will be a virtual Landlords and Agent event on Wednesday the 25th of November between 3 pm – 5 pm which you can also request to join– we will be in attendance expressing our views.
If you have any questions regarding the proposed scheme then please don't hesitate to contact us.
